Uganda holds nerve to registered their historic first T20 World Cup game win by tense 3-wickets against Papua New Guinea in a low-scoring game of the ninth match of a T20 World Cup.

Match Stats : 
  • Uganda chased 78 was their ninth lowest successful run-chase in T20 internationals.
  • This is the Uganda's first T20 World Cup match win in their second attempt.
  • This is the Uganda's first T20I win against Papua New Guinea in the second T20I meeting between these sides.
  • Papua New Guinea's 77 was their lowest score ever in T20 international, previous lowest was 92 against Ireland at Townsville in 2016 and the  joint 14th lowest-score in T20 World Cups.
  • Frank Nsubuga's economy rate of 1 was his joint best economical figures for Uganda in a full spell in T20 international, jointly with his economy rate of 1 against Tanzania at Rwanda in 2022 and the best economical figures in T20 World Cups, surpassing the previous record of 1.75 economy rate by Anrich Nortje against Sri Lanka at New York earlier in this tournament.

PNG bundled out for 77 in 19.1 overs with top scorer by Hiri Hiri hit 15 off 19-balls including 2-fours with strike rate of 78.94.

Lega Siaka scored 12 off 17-balls including a four  and Kiplin Doriga hit 12 off 20-balls contained one-six.

Uganda best bowler by Frank Nsubuga took 2-wickets for 4-runs in 4-overs including two maidens with economy rate of 1.

Juma Miyagi captured two-wickets for 10-runs in 4-overs with economy rate of 2.50, Alpesh Ramjani, Cosmas Kyewuta both took 2-wickets and one for Brian Masaba.

Uganda chased 78-7 in 18.2 overs with top scorer by Riazat Ali Shah scored 33 off 56-balls including a boundary.

Juma Miyagi scored 13 off 16-balls without a boundary and Alpesh Ramjani 8.

PNG best bowler by Alei Nao, Norman Vanua both took 2-wickets and one for Assad Vala - Chad Soper.

Riazat Ali Shah named Player of the match for his match-winning brilliant 33 off 56-balls including a boundary.
