Evin Lewis' record-breaking 61-ball century and Sherfane Rutherford's 26-ball half-century powers to West Indies cruising to via DLS method consolation win against Sri Lanka by 8-wickets and avoid the series whitewash in a rain-truncated game of the third & final ODI.

  • Kusal Mendis hammered a 19-ball third fastest fifty for Sri Lanka in One-day international and the fastest fifty by an Sri Lankan batsman against West Indies in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 25-ball half-century held by Tillakaratne Dilshan at Colombo (RPS) in 2015.
  • Evin Lewis hammered a 61-ball third fastest century for West Indies in One-day international and the fastest hundred by an West Indies batsman against Sri Lanka in ODIs.


* West Indies win their first ODI of 2024 and they end an 11-match losing streak in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka scored 156-3 in 23 overs - due to rain match reduced from 50 to 23-overs per a side - with top scorer by Kusal Mendis hammered a unbeaten 56 off 22-balls including 9-fours & a six with strike rate of 254.54.

Pathum Nissanka struck 56 off 62-balls including 8-fours & a six and Avishka Fernando cracked a 34 off 50-balls included 4-fours & a six.

West Indies best bowler by Roston Chase and Sherfane Rutherford both took one-wickets.

West Indies chased 196-2 in 22 overs - due to rain revised DLS target of 196 from 23-overs - with top scorer by Evin Lewis hammered a unbeaten 102 off 61-balls - which was his 5th ODI hundred and his third century against Sri Lanka in ODIs.

Sherfane Rutherford blasted a unbeaten 50 off 26-balls including 4-fours & 3-sixes with strike rate of 192.30, Shai Hope scored 22 off 27-balls included a boundary and Brandon King hit 16 off 19-balls contained two boundaries.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka both took one-wickets.

Evin Lewis named Player of the match for his match-winning whirlwind batting performance to smashed a unbeaten 102 off facing 61-balls including 9-fours & 4-sixes with strike rate of 167.21.
