Simon Harmer, Marco Jansen and Temba Bavuma guided South Africa pulled off a stunning 30-run victory over India and take a 1-0 lead inside three days in a low-scoring thrilling game of the first Test match.

  • South Africa's 30-run win was their smallest victory by terms of runs against India in Tests, previous lowest win was 72-runs at Cape Town in 2018.
  • Test match between India and South Africa is the first-ever Test in India where recorded all four innings were below 200 totals and overall the 12th instance of all-four-innings were below 200 all-out totals in a Test match and the first since 1959.

South Africa 1st Innings scored 159 for all-out in 55 overs with top scorer by Aiden Markram cracked a 31 off 48-balls including 5-fours & a six.

Wiaan Mulder struck 24 off 51-balls including 3-fours, Tony de Zorzi hit 24 off 55-balls included one-six & a four.

Ryan Rickelton blasted a 23 off 22-balls including 4-fours with strike rate of 104.54, Kyle Verreynne hit 16 off 36-balls included 2-fours and Tristan Stubbs scored a unbeaten 15 off 74-balls contained a four.

1st Innings India best bowler by Jasprit Bumrah claimed a 5-wicket haul for 27-runs in 14-overs including five maidens with economy rate of 1.92, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj both took 2-wickets and one for Axar Patel.

India 1st Innings scored 189 for all-out in 62.2 overs with top scorer by KL Rahul cracked a 39 off 119-balls including 4-fours & a six.

Washington Sundar struck 29 off 82-balls including 2-fours & a six, Rishabh Pant hammered a 27 off 24-balls included 2-sixes & 2-fours with strike rate of 112.50.

Ravindra Jadeja struck 27 off 45-balls including 3-fours, Axar Patel scored 16 off 45-balls included 2-fours and Dhruv Jurel hit a run-a-ball 14-runs contained 3-fours with strike rate of 100.

1st Innings South Africa best bowler by Simon Harmer claimed a 4-wickets for 30-runs in 15.2-overs including four maidens with economy rate of 1.95.

Marco Jansen picked up 3-wickets for 35-runs in 15-overs included 4-maidens with economy rate of 2.33, Corbin Bosch and Keshav Maharaj both took one-wickets.

South Africa 2nd Innings scored 153 for all-out in 54 overs with top scorer by Temba Bavuma cracked a unbeaten 55 off 136-balls including 4-fours.

Corbin Bosch blasted a 25 off 37-balls including 2-fours & a six, Marco Jansen hit 13 off 16-balls including a six, Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder each scored 11-runs.

2nd Innings India best bowler by Ravindra Jadeja claimed a 4-wickets for 50-runs in 20-overs including three maidens with economy rate of 2.50, 

Mohammed Siraj captured 2-wickets for 2-runs in 2-overs with economy rate of 1, Kuldeep Yadav took 2-wickets and one for Jasprit Bumrah - Axar Patel.

India 2nd Innings scored 93 for all-out in 35 overs with top scorer by Washington Sundar cracked a 31 off 92-balls including 2-fours.

Axar Patel blasted a 26 off 17-balls including 2-fours & a six, Ravindra Jadeja hit 18 off 26-balls included 2-fours and Dhruv Jurel scored 13 off 34-balls contained 3-fours.

2nd Innings South Africa best bowler by Simon Harmer claimed a 4-wickets for 21-runs in 14-overs including four maidens with economy rate of 1.50.

Marco Jansen captured two-wickets for 15-runs in 7-overs including three maidens with economy rate of 2.14, Keshav Maharaj took 2-wickets and one for Aiden Markram.

Simon Harmer named Player of the match for his excellent spin bowling performance to claimed a 8-wicket in a Test match.
