New Zealand exacted revenge with a disciplined six-wicket victory over Pakistan in a rain-affected one-day international, ticing the three-match series one all.

The world champions again looked deeply suspect as, batting first in Napier, Pakistan collapsed to 8-138 in the alloted 42 overs.

Salim Malik, with 39, was the only batsman to top 20 against a miserly 'but slow New Zealand attack.

Pakistan, was forced to bat in damp conditions that were ideal for seamers. The team scored only 158 in the first match in Wellington on Saturday, but their fiery pace bowling attack demolished NZ for 108.

However, apart from an initial hiccup when flamboyant opener Mark Greatbatch was caught in the first over, New Zealand's batsmen found Pakistan's bowlers easier to handle.

New Zealand's victory sets the scene for the third match on West Indies at Auckland's Eden Park.
