Pakistan scored 208-6 in 50 overs with top scorer by Asif Mujtaba cracked a unbeaten 49 off 66-balls - who fell one-run short of his half-century - including 4-fours.

Inzamam-ul-Haq hit 47 off 68-balls including 4-fours, Ramiz Raja struck 29 off 45-balls included 5-fours, Javed Miandad cracked a 22 off 54-balls contained 2-fours.

Wasim Akram hit a unbeaten 20 off 19-balls including a six and Rashid Latif scored 15 off 19-balls contained a boundary.

South Africa best bowler by Brian McMillan captured two-wickets, Allan Donald, Hansie Cronje and Craig Matthews each took one-wickets.

South Africa 159 for 2 to 198 for all-out in exact 50 overs with top scorer by Andrew Hudson struck 93 off 124-balls - who fell seven-run short of his century - including 10-fours & a six.

Kepler Wessels cracked a 42 off 84-balls including 3-fours and Peter Kirsten hit 18 off 42-balls included 2-fours.

Pakistan best bowler by Waqar Younis 5-25, Wasim Akram and Asif Mujtaba both took one-wickets.

Waqar Younis named Player of the match for his stunning bowling performance to claimed a 5-wicket haul for 25-runs in 10-overs with economy rate of 2.50.

FAST BOWLER Waqar Younis destroyed South Africa's batting to take Pakistan to a 10-run victory in the opening match of a triangular one-day series.

Younis, showing why he is regarded as the world's best fast bowler, finished with figures of 5-25 and precipitated South Africa's collapse in the last 10 overs.

Chasing 6-208, South Africa looked to be firmly in control after 40 overs with 159 on the board and eight wickets in hand.

But then Younis struck, bowling opener Andrew Hudson for 93 and Daryl Cullinan for a duck two balls later.

With opener Kepler Wessels and number three Peter Kirsten already back in the pavilion, panic set in among the South Africans and Jonty Rhodes, Brian McMillan and Dave Richardson were run out.

The next match is between South Africa and the West Indies in Port Elizabeth on Thursday.
