England scored 224-8 in the allotted 55 overs with top scorer by Mike Atherton struck 81 off 137-balls, Alec Stewart cracked a 24 off 30-balls included 2-fours.

Graham Gooch scored 23 off 40-balls including a boundary, Chris Lewis hit 19 off 10-balls included 3-fours with strike rate of 190, Graeme Hick 18, Dermot Revee 16 and Robin Smith 15.

New Zealand best bowler by Chris Pringle claimed a 5-wicket haul for 45-runs in 11-overs including a maiden with economy rate of 4.09 and Shane Thomson took 2-wickets.

New Zealand bowled out for 182 in 52.5 overs with top scorer by Bryan Young cracked a 65 off 114-balls including 4-fours.

Adam Parore struck 42 off 65-balls including 4-fours, Danny Morrison and Stephen Fleming each scored 17-runs.

England best bowler by Chris Lewis picked up 3-wickets for 20-runs in 9.5-overs including two maidens with economy rate of 2.03, Graeme Hick captured two-wickets.

Debutants Darren Gouch, Shaun Udal - each took 2-wickets on their debut ODI matches and Angus Fraser picked up one-wicket.
