Venkatesh Prasad and Anil Kumble's each two wickets before Mohammad Azharuddin's unbeaten 90, Navjot Sidhu's classy 84 and Sachin Tendulkar's run-a-ball 41 helped to India emphatic eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka and India clinch the their fourth Asia Cup title in a one-sided final encounter of a Pepsi Asia Cup.
Sri Lanka scored 230-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Asanka Gurusinha cracked a 85 off 122-balls including 3-sixes & 2-fours.
Sanath Jayasuriya struck 22 off 28-balls including 3-fours, Hashan Tillakaratne scored 22 off 55-balls included a boundary.
Romesh Kaluwitharana hit 18 off 19-balls including 3-fours and Roshan Mahanama scored 15 off 37-balls included a four.
India best bowler by Venkatesh Prasad captured two-wickets for 32-runs in 10-overs including a maiden with economy rate of 3.20, Anil Kumble took 2-wickets and one for Manoj Prabhakar.
India chase down the target of 231, finishing at 233 for 2 in 41.5 overs with top scorer by Mohammad Azharuddin cracked a unbeaten 90 off 89-balls, Navjot Sidhu hit a unbeaten 84 off 106-balls including five boundaries and Sachin Tendulkar scored a run-a-ball 41-runs included 5-fours.
Sri Lanka best bowler by Chaminda Vaas and Champaka Ramanayake both took one-wickets.
Mohammad Azharuddin named Player of the match for his match-winning captain innings of unbeaten 90 off facing 89-balls including 5-fours & 2-sixes.
Navjot Sidhu earned player of the series for contributing 197 runs with average of 98.50 in the tournament.
