* World Cup hero Aravinda de Silva once again proved to be Australia's nemesis as he scored a unbeaten 83 contribution helped Sri Lanka win in the Singer World Series match.

* The Sri Lankan vice-captain, who scored an unbeaten century against Australia in the World Cup final in March, rescued his team with a superb innings of 83 not out to see them home with 4.1 overs to spare.

Australia scored 228-9 in 50 overs with top scorer by Michael Bevan cracked a 56 off 78-balls including two boundaries.

Mark Waugh struck 50 off 55-balls including 7-fours, Ricky Ponting hit a unbeaten 46 off 57-balls included one-six & a four and Steve Waugh scored 22 off 36-balls without a boundary.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Upul Chandana picked up 3-wickets for 38-runs in 10-overs with economy rate of 3.80, Muttiah Muralitharan, Sanath Jayasuriya both took 2-wickets and one for Kumar Dharmasena.

Sri Lanka 81 for 5 to chase down the target of 229, finishing at 232 for 6 in 45.5 overs with top scorer by Aravinda de Silva cracked a unbeaten 83 off 95-balls including 11-fours.

Roshan Mahanama cracked a 50 off 78-balls including 3-fours, Sanath Jayasuriya hammered a 44 off 28-balls included 8-fours & a six with strike rate of 157.14 and Asanka Gurusinha scored 16 off 30-balls contained two-fours.

Australia best bowler by Damien Fleming picked up 3-wickets for 26-runs in 8-overs including a maiden with economy rate of 3.25, Steve Waugh and Glenn McGrath both took 2-wickets.

Aravinda de Silva named Player of the match for his match-winning superb unbeaten 83 off 95-balls including 11-fours.
