Ben Hollioake, who had never set foot inside Lord's until marked his England debut at cricket's traditional headquarters with a compelling 63 off 48 balls as Australia lost the one-day series 3-0.

All-rounder Hollioake, born in Australia but educated in England, Alec Stewart, who hit 79, and John Crawley, with 52, spurred their side to a six-wicket victory with one over to spare in the third and final international. Australia, put in to bat, scored 269 all out in 49.2 of their 50 overs, thanks mainly to a fluent 95 from 96 deliveries by Mark Waugh, and England eased home at 270 for four to follow six-wicket wins in each of the first two games.

Hollioake, who is the: younger brother of Surrey and England team mate Adam, named England's man of the series, played a refreshingly uninhibited innings with style and confidence after coming in at number three when captain Mike Atherton was out for one in the sixth over.

A straight driven four off Glenn McGrath was Hollioake's first scoring shot, which he repeated in the paceman's next over, and he subsequently struck the same bowler for three fours in another over.

Hollioake then attacked the wrist spin of Shane Warne, whom he straight drove for four and struck for six over mid-wicket, having completed his half-century in 37 balls. He was out when he cut Jason Gillespie uppishly to Steve Waugh at backward point, and departed to a standing ovation.

After Hollioake's dismissal, his Surrey team mate Stewart played some characteristically well-timed strokes to make his 79 off 106 balls which, allied to Crawley's 52 in 68 deliveries, ensured there was no way back into the game for Australia.
