Virender Sehwag played flurry innings of 55-runs off 23 deliveries against Kenya at Paarl in 2001, Sehwag made his fastest ODI fifty which came off just 22-balls including 7-fours and 3-sixes with strike rate of 239.

Batting first, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly put on a record opening partnership of 258 runs before Ganguly got out for 111 and in walked Virender Sehwag at No.3 with 8 overs left.

Virender Sehwag began a brutal assault on the bowlers right from the word go, only dealing in boundaries and sixes and smashing every bowler that came in his way.

Virender Sehwag became the second fastest fifty by Indian batsman in ODIs after Ajit Agarkar.

Virender Sehwag hit a four off the last ball to finish with 55 not out of 23 balls to India set up mammoth total of 351 in 50 overs.
