All-round display from Joe Root, Chris Woakes, Half-centuries from Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales guided England emphatic four-wicket victory over Australia, despite a record-equal century from Aaron Finch and go up 2-0 lead in the second ODI.

  • 5 : Aaron Finch equalled a joint most centuries hit by an Australian batsman against England in One-day internationals and also the joint most by a batsman against England in ODIs, jointly with Ricky Ponting and Mahela Jayawardene.
  • 117 : Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales set up the seventh highest second-wicket partnership for England against Australia in One-day internationals.

Australia scored 270-9 in 50 overs with top scorer by Aaron Finch 106 off 114-balls - which was his 10th ODI hundred and his fifth century against England in ODIs - including 9-fours and a six.

Mitchell Marsh scored 36 off 43-balls including 3-fours, David Warner hit 35 off 40-balls included 5-fours, Debutant Alex Carey - who scored 27 off 24-balls on his debut ODI match, Steven Smith 18 and Cameron White 15 not out.

Australia best bowler by Joe Root, Adil Rashid both took 2-wickets, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett each took one-wickets.

England chased 274-6 in 44.2 overs with top scorer by Jonny Bairstow struck 60 off 56-balls including 9-fours with strike rate of 107.14.

Alex Hales cracked a 57 off 60-balls including 7-fours & a six, Joe Root 46 not out.

Jos Buttler blasted a 42 off 32-balls including 5-fours with strike rate of 131.25, Chris Woakes hammered a unbeaten 39 off 27-balls including 5-fours and a six with strike-rate of 144.44 and Eoin Morgan 21.

Australia best bowler by Mitchell Starc claimed a 4-wickets for 59-runs in 10-overs and Debutant Jhye Richardson - who took 2-wickets on his ODI debut match.

Joe Root named Player of the match for his match-winning all-round performance to scored a unbeaten 46 off 58-balls including a boundary after taking 2-wickets for 31-runs in 7-overs.
