Faf du Plessis' record-breaking 185, Half-centuries from AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock before Wayne Parnell's four-for helped to South Africa crushing 40-run victory over Sri Lanka, despite a blazing century from Upul Tharanga and go up 4-0 lead in a high-scoring game of the fourth ODI.

  • Faf du Plessis's 185 was the second highest score for South Africa in One-day international after Gary Kirsten's unbeaten 189 and the highest score by an South African batsman against Sri Lanka in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 128 held by Quinton de Kock at Hambantota in 2014.
  • Faf du Plessis' 185 was the highest score by any batsman in South Africa in One-day internationals, surpassing the previous record of 178 held by Quinton de Kock against Australia at Centurion in last year and also the highest by any batsman at Newlands, Capetown in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 173 held by David Warner against South Africa in last year.

South Africa scored record total of 367-5 in 50 overs with top scorer by Faf du Plessis 185 - which was his 8th ODI hundred and his second century against Sri Lanka in ODIs.

AB de Villiers scored 64 off 62-balls including 4-fours, Quinton de Kock hammered a 55 off 46-balls included 7-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 119.57.

Farhaan Behardien blasted a unbeaten 36 off 20-balls including 4-fours & one six with strike rate of 180 and JP Duminy 20.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Sachith Pathirana, Lahiru Kumara both took 2-wickets and one for Lahiru Madushanka.

Sri Lanka scored 327 for all-out in 48.1 overs with top scorer by Upul Tharanga blasted a 119 off 90-balls - which was his 14th ODI hundred and his first century against South Africa in ODIs - including 11-fours & 7-sixes with strike rate of 132.22.

Niroshan Dickwella hammered a 58 off 47-balls including 9-fours with strike rate of 123.40, Sandun Weerakkody struck 58 off 51-balls included 7-fours & a six with strike-rate of 113.73.

Asela Gunaratne struck 38 off 31-balls including 3-fours & a six with strike rate of 122.58 and Kusal Mendis scored 29.

South Africa best bowler by Wayne Parnell claimed a 4-wickets for 58-runs in 9.1 overs, Kagiso Rabada, Dwaine Pretorius and Imran Tahir each took 2-wickets.

Faf du Plessis named Player of the match for his record-breaking career-best 185-runs knocked off facing 141-balls including 16-fours and 3-sixes with strike rate of 131.20.
