Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers' superb centuries sets up to South Africa's record 214-run victory over India and clinch the five-match series with 3-2 in a one-sided epic game of the fifth ODI.

Match Stats :
  • South Africa' 438 was their joint second highest score in One-day international, jointly with their 438 against Australia at Johannesburg in 2006, it is their highest total against India and the joint-fourth highest-score in ODIs.
  • 438 : This is the highest score ever in India in One-day internationals, Previous best of 418 by India against West Indies at Indore in 2011.
  • South Africa's 214-run win was their sixth largest victory by terms of runs in One-day internationals and it is their biggest victory against India in ODIs.
  • India's 214-run defeat was their second worst by margin of runs in ODIs.
  • South Africa won their first-ever bilateral One-day international series in India after Faf du Plessis' first, Quinton de Kock's second and AB de Villiers' third centuries of the series.
  • South Africa became the first team to register six totals of 400 or more in One-day internationals, surpassing the previous record of 5 by India.
  • 123 Innings : Hashim Amla became the fastest to reach 6000 ODI runs in terms of innings, beating Virat Kohli's record, He took 136 innings to reach this feat.

  • 6 : AB de Villiers hit the most centuries by an South African batsman against India in One-day international cricket history and the joint second most centuries hit by any batsman against India in ODIs, jointly with 6-hundreds hit by Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara.
  • 5 : Quinton de Kock hit the second most centuries by an South African batsman against India in One-day international and the joint fourth most centuries hit by any batsman against India in ODIs, jointly with 5-hundreds hit by Nathan Astle and Salman Butt..
  • 9 Innings : Quinton de Kock became the fastest to score five centuries in terms of innings against India and also against any team in One-day internationals, surpassing the previous record of 18 innings taken by Salman Butt against India.
  • Quinton de Kock became the seventh batsman to hit five or more hundreds against India in One-day internationals after Sanath Jayasuriya (7), Ricky Ponting (6), Kumar Sangakkara (6), De Villiers (6), Salman Butt (5) and Nathan Astle (5).
  • Faf du Plessis' 133* was his career-best score for South Africa in One-day international and the joint third highest score by an South African batsman against India in ODIs, jointly unbeaten 133 held by Gary Kirsten at Johannesburg in 2001.
  • 106 : Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the most runs conceded by an Indian bowler in One-day international, surpassing the previous record of 102 by Vinay Kumar against Australia at Bengaluru in 2013.
  • 84 : Mohit Sharma equalled a joint eighth most runs conceded by an Indian bowler in One-day internationals, jointy with Mohammed Shami against New Zealand at Auckland in 2014.
  • 78 : Amit Mishra became the third most runs conceded without a wicket by an Indian bowler against South Africa in One-day internationals.
  • 154 : Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis set up the second highest second-wicket partnership for South Africa against India in One-day internationals.
  • 164* : Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers set up the second highest third-wicket partnership for South Africa against India in One-day internationals.
  • South Africa's 20-sixes was the second most sixes by a team in an innings in One-day internationals.
  • 11 : AB de Villiers hit the his second most sixes in an innings for South Africa in One-day international and the most sixes hit by an South African batsman against India in an innings in ODIs.
  • This is the second instance of South Africa's three batsmen were scores of centuries or more runs in their innings in One-day international and It is their first such instance against India in ODIs. The only other such instance came against West Indies at Johannesburg earlier in this year.

South Africa scored record total of 438-4 in 50 overs with top scorer by Faf du Plessis retired hurt for 133 off 115-balls - which was his 5th ODI hundred - including 9-fours and 6-sixes.

AB de Villiers hammered a 119 off 61-balls - which was 23rd ODI hundred and his sixth century against India in ODIs - including 11-sixes & 3-fours with strike rate of 195.08.

Quinton de Kock 109 - which was his 8th ODI hundred, Hashim Amla blasted a 23 off 13-balls including 5-fours, David Miller 22 not out and Farhaan Behardien 16.

India best bowler by Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Mohit Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar each took one-wickets.

India scored 224 for all-out in 36 overs with top scorer by Ajinkya Rahane struck 87 off 58-balls including 9-fours and 3-sixes.

Shikhar Dhawan scored 60 off 59-balls including 8-fours, MS Dhoni 27 and Rohit Sharma 16.

South Africa best bowler by Kagiso Rabada claimed four-wicket for 41-runs in 7-overs, Dale Steyn picked up 3-wickets for 38-runs in 7-overs, Imran Tahir took 2-wickets and one for Kyle Abbott.

Quinton de Kock named player of the match for his spectacular batting display of scoring a 109-runs knocked off facing 87-balls including 17-fours and a six with strike rate of 125.28.

AB de Villiers earned player of the series for sensational batting performance to contributed 358-runs with average of 89.5 overs including 3-centuries in the five-match series.
