Australian captain Steve Smith smashed a career-best scintillating 164-runs knocked off facing 157-balls including 14-fours and 4-sixes helped to Australia post the massive total of 324 against New Zealand in the first ODI.
* 164 : Steve Smith equalled a joint highest score by an Australian captain in One-day internationals, jointly 164 held by Ricky Ponting against South Africa at Johannesburg in 2006 and the joint seventh highest score by a captain in ODIs.
* Steve Smith's 164 was the joint seventh highest for Australia in One-day international, jointly with Ricky Ponting and the second highest score by an Australian batsman against New Zealand in ODIs.
