Bowlers attack before Mahela Jayawardene's record-breaking century and Thisara Perera's assault helped to Sri Lanka narrow four-wicket victory over Afghanistan in a tight 12th match of a ICC Cricket World Cup.

Lahiru Thirimanne became the first Sri Lankan opener to fall for a first-ball duck against Afghanistan in One-day internationals. 7th 126 : Mahela Jayawardene and Angelo Mathews set up the seventh highest fifth-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka in One-day internationals.

Afghanistan scored 232 for all-out in 49.4 overs with top scorer by Asghar Afghan struck 54 off 57-balls including 5-fours 5 a six.

Samiullah Shinwari scored 38 off consuming 70-deliveries including five boundaries, Mirwais Ashraf struck 28 off 32-balls included 2-sixes & a four.

Javed Ahmadi hit 24 off 23-balls including 4-fours, Mohammad Nabi 21 and Afsar Zazai 19.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Angelo Mathews, Lasith Malinga both picked up 3-wickets, Suranga Lakmal took 2-wickets and one for Rangana Herath - Thisara Perera.

Sri Lanka chased 236-6 in 48.2 overs with top scorer by Mahela Jayawardene 100 - which was his 18th ODI hundred, his first century against Afghanistan in ODIs and his fourth ODI hundred in World Cups.

Thisara Perera hammered a unbeaten 47 off 26-balls including 6-fours & a six with strike rate of 180.77, Angelo Mathews scored 44 off consuming 81-balls included two boundaries and Dimuth Karunaratne 23.

Afghanistan best bowler by Hamid Hassan picked up 3-wickets, Dawlat Zadran and Shapoor Zadran both took one-wickets.

Mahela Jayawardene named Player of the match for his masterclass 109-runs knocked off facing 120-balls including 8-fours and a six.
