Hashim Amla's record-equal century, Rilee Rossouw's superb 89 before bowlers attack helped to South Africa narrow 20-run victory over New Zealand and take a 1-0 lead in the high-voltage game of the first ODI.

  • South Africa's 304 was their fourth highest score against New Zealand in One-day internationals and It is their seventh highest total at SuperSport Park.
  • New Zealand's 284 was their fourth highest score against South Africa in One-day international and It is their third highest total in South African soil in ODIs.
  • 21 : Hashim Amla equalled a joint most centuries hit for South Africa in One-day internationals, jointly with Herschelle Gibbs.
  • Hashim Amla's 124 was his seventh highest score for South Africa in One-day international and the fourth highest-score by an South African batsman against New Zealand in ODIs.
  • 185 : Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw set up the record second-wicket partnership for South Africa against New Zealand in One-day international, previously held by the 172-run stand between Gary Kirsten and Jacques Kallis at Kimberly in 2000 and South Africa's sixth highest second-wicket stand in ODIs.
  • 104 : Tom Latham and Kane Williamson set up the fourth highest second-wicket partnership for New Zealand against South Africa in One-day internationals.

South Africa scored 304-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Hashim Amla 124 - which was his 21st ODI hundred and his second century against New Zealand in ODIs.

Rilee Rossouw struck 89 off 112-balls including 6-fours and 3-sixes, Morne van Wyk scored 16 and Farhaan Behardien 15.

New Zealand best bowler by Adam Milne, Mitchell McClenaghan both took two-wickets and one for James Neesham.

New Zealand scored 284 for all-out in 48.1 overs with top scorer by Tom Latham struck 60 off 80-balls including four-fours & a six.

Kane Williamson cracked a 47 off 69-balls including 4-fours and a six, James Neesham scored a run-a-ball 41 included six-fours.

Colin Munro hit 33 off 32-balls with 3-fours & a six and Martin Guptill 25, Mitchell McClenaghan 16 and Adam Milne 15 not out.

South Africa best bowler by Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir, Vernon Philander each took 2-wickets, Debutant David Wiese - who took two-wickets on his debut ODI match and Kagiso Rabada took 1-wicket.

Hashim Amla named Player of the match for his masterclass batting display of scoring a 124-runs knocked off facing 126-balls including 13-fours and 3-sixes.
