Steve Smith's career-best 164 sets up to Australia crushing 68-run victory over New Zealand, despite a powerful century from Martin Guptill and take a 1-0 lead in the first ODI.

  • Steve Smith's 164 was the joint seventh highest for Australia in One-day international, jointly with Ricky Ponting and the second highest score by an Australian batsman against New Zealand in ODIs.
  • Steve Smith's 164 was the highest ODI score at the Sydney Cricket Ground, surpassing the previous record of unbeaten 162 by AB de Villiers against West Indies in last year.

David Warner scored 24 off 29-balls including 4-fours and George Bailey 17.

Steve Smith named player of the match for his career-best scintillating 164-runs knocked off facing 157-balls including 14-fours and 4-sixes with strike rate of 104.45.
