Steve Smith's career-best 164 sets up to Australia crushing 68-run victory over New Zealand, despite a powerful century from Martin Guptill and take a 1-0 lead in the first ODI.

* Steve Smith's 164 was the joint seventh highest for Australia in One-day international, jointly with Ricky Ponting and the second highest score by an Australian batsman against New Zealand in ODIs.

* Steve Smith's 164 was the highest ODI score at the Sydney Cricket Ground, surpassing the previous record of unbeaten 162 by AB de Villiers against West Indies in last year.

* 164 : Steve Smith equalled a joint highest score by an Australian captain in One-day internationals, jointly 164 held by Ricky Ponting against South Africa at Johannesburg in 2006 and the joint seventh highest score by a captain in ODIs.

* 132 Innings : Martin Guptill became the fastest South African batsman to reach 5000 ODI runs in terms of Innings, surpassing the previous record of 144 innings took by Ross Taylor and the tenth fastest in ODIs.

David Warner scored 24 off 29-balls including 4-fours and George Bailey 17.
