Bowlers attack before Half-centuries from AB de Villiers, JP Duminy helped to South Africa domineering six-wicket victory over New Zealand, despite a Luke Ronchi's 99 and take a 1-0 lead in the first ODI.

Match Stats : 
  • 74 : Luke Ronchi and Trent Boult set up the record tenth-wicket partnership for New Zealand in One-day internationals, previously held by the 65-run stand between Ewen Chatfield, Martin Snedden against Sri Lanka at Derby in 1983.
  • 139* : AB de Villiers and JP Duminy set up the record fifth-wicket partnership for South Africa against New Zealand in One-day international, previously held by the 138-run stand between Jonty Rhodes and Mark Boucher at Perth in 2002 and South Africa's third highest fifth-wicket stand in ODIs.

New Zealand scored 230 for all-out in 45.1 overs with top scorer by Luke Ronchi 99 off 83-balls - who fell one-run short of his century - including 11-fours and 3-sixes with strike rate of 119.27.

Tom Latham scored 29 off 38 deliveries included five boundaries, Dean Brownlie scored 24 and Trent Boult 21 not out.

South Africa best bowler by Imran Tahir, Vernon Philander, Morne Morkel, Ryan McLaren each took two-wickets and one for JP Duminy - Dale Steyn.

South Africa chased 236-4 in 48.1 overs with top scorer by AB de Villiers 89 not out, JP Duminy cracked a unbeaten 58 off 72-balls including 3-fours and 2-sixes.

Hashim Amla struck 38 off consuming 74 deliveries included a boundary and Rilee Rossouw scored 26.

New Zealand best bowler by Trent Boult took two-wickets and one for Corey Anderson and Kyle Mills.

AB de Villiers named Player of the match for his match-winning unbeaten 89-runs knocked off facing 85-balls including nine boundaries.
