A brilliant 102-run opening partnership between Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar before a fine half-century from Hemang Badani led to India hard-fought three-wicket victory over Zimbabwe and take a 1-0 lead in a tight-game of the first ODI.

Zimbabwe scored 253-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Stuart Carlisle scored a unbeaten 91-runs off 125-balls including five-fours, Alistair Campbell struck 68 off 92-balls included 7-fours and a six, Grant Flower scored 25 and Guy Whittall 20.
India best bowler by Venkatesh Prasad, Ajit Agarkar both takes 2-wickets, Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan each took one-wickets.
India chased 255-7 in 47.2 overs with top scorer by Hemang Badani 58 not out, Sachin Tendulkar - Sourav Ganguly both scored 44-runs, Vijay Dahiya struck a run-a-ball 35-runs including 3-fours & a six and Ajit Agarkar 19 not out.
