Bowlers attack after Debutant David Warner's record-breaking 19-ball fifty helped to Australia comprehensive 52-run victory over South Africa, despite a fighting knock from JP Duminy's 78 and take a 1-0 lead in the first T20I.

Match Stats : 
  • David Warner's 89 was the third highest score for Australia in T20 international and the joint fifth highest score in T20Is, jointly with Graeme Smith and Justin Kemp.
  • David Warner became the third Australian player to win the Man-of-the-match award on debut T20I match and overall the 18th player in T20Is.
  • David Warner hammered a 19-ball second fastest fifty in T20 international and the fastest fifty by an Australian batsman in T20I cricket history, surpassing the previous record of 25-ball half-century held by Andrew Symonds against South Africa at Brisbane in 2006.

Australia scored massive total of 182-9 in 20 overs with top scorer by debutant David Warner - who scored 89 off 43-balls on his debut T20I match, Ricky Ponting 21 and David Hussey 19.

South Africa best bowler by Dale Steyn picked up 3-wickets, Albie Morkel, Makhaya Ntini both takes two-wickets and one for debutant Lonwabo Tsotsobe took one-wicket on his debut T20I match.

South Africa scored 130 for all-out in 18-overs with top scorer by JP Duminy blasted a 78 off 48-balls including 9-fours & a six with strike rate of 162.50, Albie Morkel 12 and debutant Vaughn van Jaarsveld - who scored 12-runs on his debut T20I match.

Australia best bowler by David Hussey picked up 3-wickets for 25-runs in 4-overs, Ben Hilfenhaus, Nathan Bracken, Shaun Tait each took 2-wickets and one for James Hopes.
David Warner named Player of the match for his debut record-breaking batting performance to smashed a 89-runs knocked off facing 43-balls including 7-fours and 6-sixes with strike rate of 206.97.
