Ajit Agarkar's four-for before Half-centuries from Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag helped to India convincing four-wicket victory over England and take a 2-1 lead in a low-scoring game of the third ODI.

  • India chased 218 was their sixth lowest successful run-chase against England in One-day internationals.
  • 70 : Ben Holliake and Jeremy Snape set up the third highest seventh-wicket partnership for England against India in One-day International and England's joint fifth highest seventh-wicket stand in ODIs, jointly 70-run stand held by between Graham Thorpe and Matthew Fleming against West Indies at Sharjah in 1997.
  • 107 : Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag set up the second highest first-wicket partnership for India against England in One-day Internationals.
  • England's 217 was their third lowest score in the completed innings against India in Indian soil in One-day internationals.

England scored 217 for all-out in 48 overs with top scorer by Michael Vaughan stuck 43 off 59-balls including 4-fours.

Jeremy Snape scored 38 off 60-balls including 2-fours, Ben Holliake hit 37 off 61-balls included a boundary and Marcus Trescothick struck 36 off 34-balls with 5-fours.

India best bowler by Ajit Agarkar claimed a 4-wickets for 34-runs in 9-overs, Harbhajan Singh, Sanjay Bangar and Javagal Srinath each took one-wickets.

India chased 221-6 in 46.4 overs with top scorer by Sachin Tendulkar 68, Virender Sehwag struck 51 off 58-balls including 8-fours.

Ajay Ratra scored a unbeaten 29 off 32-balls including 4-fours, VVS Laxman 26 and Dinesh Mongia 21.

England best bowler by Matthew Hoggard picked up 3-wickets, Jeremy Snape took 2-wickets and one for Darren Gough.

Sachin Tendulkar named Player of the match for his match-winning masterclass 68-runs knocked off facing 79-balls including 10-fours.
