Mahmudullah hammered a 27-ball eighth fastest fifty for Bangladesh in T20 international and the second fastest fifty by a Bangladesh batsman in T20 World Cup after Mohammad Ashraful's 20-ball half-century against West Indies at Johannesburg in the 2007 inaugural World Cup. Mahmudullah became the first Bangladesh batsman to score a fifty against Papua New Guinea in T20 international cricket history. Bangladesh's 181 was their joint ninth highest score in T20 international and It is their highest total in T20 World Cup, previous highest was 180 against Oman at Dharamsala in the 2016 World Twenty20. Papua New Guinea's 97 was their second lowest score in T20 international and It is worst total in T20 World Cup, previous lowest was 129 against Oman in this tournament. Oman's 84-run defeat was their worst by margin of runs in T20Is, previous biggest defeat by 30-runs against UAE at Abu Dhabi in 2017. Shakib Al Hasan's 4 for 9 was his joint second best bowling performance for Bangladesh in T20 international and the second best bowling figures by an Bangladesh bowler in T20 World Cup after Mustafizur Rahman's 5 for 22.

Bangladesh scored 181-7 in 20 overs with top scorer by Mahmudullah hammered a 50 off 28-balls including 3-sixes & 3-fours with strike rate of 178.57.

Shakib Al Hasan scored 46 off 37-balls including 3-sixes, Liton Das 29, Afif Hossain 21 and Mohammad Saifuddin 19.
