Magnificent Glenn Maxwell's quick-fire 80* powers to Australia cruising to via DLS method two-wicket victory over Sri Lanka, despite a Wanindu Hasaranga's all-round display and take a 1-0 lead in a rain-affected game of the first ODI.

  • Australia chased 282 was their highest successful run-chase against Sri Lanka in One-day internationals, previous highest chase was 267 at Brisbane in 2006.
  • Sri Lanka's 300 was their fifth highest score against Australia in One-day internationals.

Sri Lanka scored a run-a-ball 300-7 in exact 50 overs with top scorer by Kusal Mendis cracked a unbeaten 86 off 87-balls including 8-fours & a six.

Pathum Nissanka scored 56 off 68-balls including 6-fours & a six, Danushka Gunathilanka hit 55 off 53-balls included 7-fours.

Wanindu Hasaranga hammered a 37 off 19-balls including 6-fours with strike rate of 194.73 and Charith Asalanka cracked a 37 off 42-balls included 4-fours.

Australia best bowler by Marnus Labuschagne, Ashton Agar both took 2-wickets and one for Josh Hazlewood - Jhye Richardson.

Australia chased 282-8 in 42.3 overs - due to rain revised target of 282 fron 44-overs - with top scorer by Glenn Maxwell hammered a unbeaten 80 off 51-balls.

Steven Smith struck 53 off 60-balls including 5-fours, Marcus Stoinis blasted a 44 off 31-balls included 4-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 141.93, Marnus Labuschagne 24 and Alex Carey 21.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Wanindu Hasaranga claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 58-runs in 9-overs, Debutant Dunith Wellalage - who took 2-wickets on his debut ODI match, Dasun Shanaka and Maheesh Theekshana both took one-wickets.

Glenn Maxwell named Player of the match for his  match-winning quick-fire unbeaten 80-runs knocked off facing 51-balls including 6-sixes and 6-fours with strike rate of 156.86.
