Deepak Hooda's power-hitting 41*, Debutant Shivam Mavi's impressive debut four-wickets and Axar Patel's brilliant 31* with he held his nerve to India pulled off a thrilling 2-run victory over Asia Cup Champions Sri Lanka, despite a captain Dasun Shanaka's quick-fire 47 and take a 1-0 lead in a nail-bitter game of the first T20I.

  • India's 2-run win was their third smallest victory by terms of runs in T20 international and It is their narrowest win against Sri Lanka in T20Is, previous narrowest win by 38-runs at Colombo (RPS) in the last year.
  • India's total of 162 for 5 is the second lowest that they have successfully defended against Sri Lanka in T20 internationals, after eclipsing their lowest was 155 at Pallekelle in 2012.
  • India's 162 was their ninth highest score against Sri Lanka at their home venue in T20 international and It is their fourth highest total at Wankhede Stadium in T20Is.
  • 68* : Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel set up the record sixth-wicket partnership for India against Sri Lanka in T20 international, previously held by the unbeaten 31-run stand between Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni at same venue in 2017 and the India's second highest sixth-wicket stand in T20Is.

India scored 162-5 in 20 overs with top scorer by Deepak Hooda hammered a unbeaten 41 off 23-balls.

Ishan Kishan cracked a 37 off 29-balls including 3-fours & 2-sixes, Axar Patel blasted a unbeaten 31 off 20-balls included 3-fours & a six with strike rate of 155 and Hardik Pandya hit 29 off 27-balls including 4-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana and Dilshan Madushanka each took one-wickets.

Sri Lanka scored 160 for all-out in exact 20 overs with top scorer by Dasun Shanaka hammered a 45 off 27-balls including 3-sixes & 3-fours with strike rate of 166.66.

Kusal Mendis struck 28 off 25-balls including 5-fours, Chamika Karunaratne cracked a unbeaten 23 off 16-balls included 2-sixes with strike rate of 143.75.

Wanindu Hasaranga hammered a 21 off 10-balls including 2-sixes & a four with strike rate of 210.

India best bowler by Debutant Shivam Mavi - who claimed a 4-wickets for 22-runs on his debut T20I match, Umran Malik and Harshal Patel both took 2-wickets.

Deepak Hooda named Player of the match for his power-hitting batting performance to smashed a unbeaten 41 off 23-balls including 4-sixes and a four with strike rate of 178.26.
