* Zimbabwe recovered from a difficult 94 for 5 at lunch to total 239 for the loss of only one more wicket from their 60 overs.

Kepler Wessels and Graeme Wood got Australia off to a good start with a 61-run opening stand, but failures by captain Kim Hughes, Graham Yallop and to a lesser extent Allan Border and David Hookes Australia's fate.

Captain Kim Hughes duck brought his total five innings on tour to only 29, Graham Yallop made only two and his dismissal swung the match decisively in Zimbabwe's favour.

The former Victorion skipper Rod Marsh hit a sweep shot off Duncan Fletcher sweetly and the shot would have gone for a six but for the intervention of Andy Pycroft on the mid-wicket fence.

Andy Pycroft jumped high in the air to knock the ball up and then caught it with his left hand as he lay outstretched on the ground only a metre from the boundary rope.

Zimbabwe looked certain winners will as many as 10 overs remaining with Australia needing 81 for victory.

Wicket-keeper Rod Marsh used the long handle effectively for an unbeaten 50, but was unable to farm the strike often enough from Rodney Hogg, with whom he had added 50 run stand for the eighth wicket and Rodney Hogg remained unbeaten 19.


Zimbabwe scored 239-6 in 60 overs with top scorer by Duncan Fletcher cracked a unbeaten 69 off 84-balls including 5-fours.

Iain Butchart scored a unbeaten 34 off 38-balls including 2-fours, Kevin Curran, Grant Paterson each scored 27-runs including two boundaries, Andy Pycroft 21 and Ali Shah 16.

Australia best bowler by Graham Yallop, Dennis Lillee both took 2-wickets and one for Allan Border - Rodney Hogg.

Australia scored 226-7 in 60 overs with top scorer by Kepler Wessels cracked a 76 off 130-balls including five boundaries.

Rodney Marsh hammered a unbeaten 50 off 42-balls including 3-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 119.04, Graham Wood hit 31 off 60-balls included 3-fours, David Hookes 20, Rodney Hogg 19 not out.

Zimbabwe best bowler by Duncan Fletcher claimed a 4-wickets for 42-runs in 11-overs including a maiden, Kevin Curran and Iain Butchart both took one-wickets.
