* New Zealand beat Pakistan by 52 runs in their Group A match. when match started at 1.45 PM, New Zealand were reduced to 120 for five by the superb leg-spin bowling spell of 4 for 21 by Abdul Qadir.


* But recovered during an interrupted afternoon to finish the day with 211 for eight in 56 overs, Next morning they added 27 runs in the remaining four overs, Pakistan made 186 for all-out in reply to New Zealand's 9/238.

* Pakistan, which defeated Sri Lanka on Thursday, they never recovered from a magnificent spell of bowling by Richard Hadlee, Jeremy Coney and Lance Cairns.

* At lunch Pakistan was 6/93 off 29 overs after New Zealand took the first three Pakistani wickets for no runs. Richard Hadlee trapped Mohsin Khan lbw without scoring then clean bowled Zaheer Abbas for a duck. Lance Cairns chipped in when he had Mudassar Nazar caught by wicketkeeper Warren Lees. 

* In the first eight balls from Hadlee and Cairns they were dismissed Mohsin, Mudassar and Zaheer for without a score.



New Zealand scored 238-9 in 60 overs with top scorer by Bruce Edgar scored 44 off consuming 107-balls including 3-fours.

Martin Crowe scored 34 off 53-balls including two boundaries, Jeremy Coney cracked a 33 off 65-balls included 3-fours.

Glenn Turner hit 27 off 37-balls including 5-fours, Warren Lees scored a unbeaten 24 off 21-balls included 2-fours and Geoff Howarth 16.

Pakistan best bowler by Abdul Qadir claimed a career-best 4-21, Rashid Khan picked up 3-wickets, Shahid Mahboob and Sarfraz Nawaz both took one-wickets.

Pakistan scored 186 for all-out in 55.2 overs with top scorer by Abdul Qadir cracked a career-best unbeaten 41 off 68-balls.

Javed Miandad struck 35 off 61-balls including 3-fours, Wasim Bari scored 34 off 71-balls included two boundaries and Shahid Mahboob 17.

New Zealand best bowler by Richard Hadlee picked up 3-wickets for 20-runs in 9-overs including two maidens with economy rate of 2.22, Jeremy Coney took 3-wickets for 28-runs in 12-overs included three maidens, Lance Cairns and Ewen Chatfield both took 2-wickets.

Abdul Qadir named Player of the match for his career-best all-round performance to scored a unbeaten 41 off 68-balls including 2-fours & a six after claiming a 4-wickets for 21-runs in 12-overs including four maidens with economy rate of 1.75.
