Gordon Greenidge's classy half-century and Captain Clive Lloyd's quick-fire 17-ball 31 gives West Indies crushing four-wicket victory over world champions India and go up 2-0 lead in the second ODI.


* Moti Bagh Stadium, Baroda became the 10th Indian venue to host a One-day international match and the 53rd venue in the world to host a ODI match.



* WEST INDIES profiting from a solid start by Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, beat India in Baroda by four wickets in the second one-day international

* West Indies needing 215 run to win, they got home with seven balls to remaining, Gordon Greenidge winning the man-of-the-match award with a classy knock of 63. While the asking rate was less than four and a half runs  per an over, West Indies were scoring at more than five an over until Desmond Haynes was out at 69, taking a wild swing at Madan Lal.

* The tourists were their checked by accurate spin bowling by Ravi Shastri and Kirti Azad. Shastri, whose 10 overs cost only 23 runs, took the prized wicket of Viv Richards cheaply. 

* Lying back to punch Shastri through the covers, Richards was surprised by a ball that stopped and he lobbed a simple catch to extra cover.

* At 130 for five with seven overs and four balls left West Indies were saved from a crisis by a quick-fire 31 la 17 balls by Lloyd, induding four fours and a six. India made a good fight of it considering they fielded a depleted side.

* Vengsarkar went down with flu on Thursday and Sunil Gavaskar injured a thigh muscle during pre-match practice. 




India scored 214-6 in the alloted 49 overs with top scorer by Ravi Shastri struck 65 off 125-balls, Sandeep Patil hit 31 off 49-balls.

Ashok Malhotra scored 29 off 27-balls, Roger Binny 22 not out, Kris Srikkanth 19 and Kapil Dev 15.

West Indies best bowler by Larry Gomes takes 2-wickets, Wayne Daniel, Malcolm Marshall, Eldine Baptiste and Roger Harper each took one-wickets.

West Indies chased 217-6 in 47.5 overs with top scorer by Gordon Greenidge struck 63 off 114-balls, Desmond Haynes hit 38 off 46-balls.

Clive Lloyd hammered a 31 off 17-balls including 4-fours & a six with strike rate of 182.35, Larry Gomes scored 26 off consuming 58-balls, Viv Richards 18 and Jeff Dujon 15 not out.

India best bowler by Kapil Dev, Madan Lal both took 2-wickets and one for Ravi Shastri - Kirti Azad.
