* Abdul Qadir the roly-poly mystery man from Lahore, dragged Pakistan from the brink of Prudential World Cup extinction at Headingley with an unbelievable four-wicket spell of leg-break and googly bowling.

* As a result, Pakistan won their match against Sri Lanka by a tight - tense 11 runs when they might have lost it by a distance in spite of an earlier superb unbeaten hundred from captain Imran Khan.

* That elegantly paced innings from a man eliminated from World Cup fast bowling duties by a shin stress fracture earned his side respectability following anearly-morning collapse to 43 for 5.

* But when Qadir was recalled blow his final four overs, Sri Lanka's boisterous chase for their victory target 236 seemed three parts of the way to glory at 162 for two.

* In eight balls he had Mendis caught behind watched Wasim Bari stump Rumesh Ratnayake in a flash of lightning and then slyly coaxed Arjuna Ranatunga to chip gently to Zaheer Abbas in the covers.

* With the wicket of Wettimuny - the sheet anchor of Sri Lanka's great fight - sandwiched between these three decisive strikes, Qadir's wizardy, maintained Pakistan's outside chance of reaching the semi-finals.

Pakistan scored 235-7 in 60 overs with top scorer by Imran Khan cracked a career-best unbeaten 102 off 133-balls - which was his 1st ODI hundred - including 11-fours.

Shahid Mahboob scored 77 off 126-balls including 6-fours and Zaheer Abbas 15.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Ashantha de Mel claimed a career-best 5-wicket haul for 39-runs in 12-overs including a maiden and Rumesh Ratnayake took 2-wickets.

Sri Lanka scored 224 for all-out in 58.3 overs with top scorer by Sidath Wettimuny struck 50 off 127-balls including 4-fours.

Roy Dias hit 47 off 73-balls including 7-fours, Duleep Mendis cracked a 33 off 49-balls included 5-fours, Ranjan Madugale scored 26 off 20-balls including one-six & a four and Ashantha de Mel.

Pakistan best bowler by Abdul Qadir 5-44 , Rashid Khan took 2-wickets and one for Sarfraz Nawaz - Shahid Mahboob.

Abdul Qadir named Player of the match for his record-breaking bowling performance to claimed a career-best 5-wicket haul for 44-runs in 12-overs including a maiden.
