* Abdul Qadir destroyed the West Indies' middle order with four for 17 off only 5.2 overs of magic, West Indies, who won the first One-day international of the five-match series at Gujranwala on Wednesday by 8-wickets, were bowled out for 173 in 36.2 overs, and Pakistan reached their winning target with nine balls to spare.

* A crowd of around 30,000 watched West Indies make a steady start after Imran Khan had asked them into batting first.

* Viv Richards, who scored an unbeaten 80 in the first match, was again the top scorer for West Indies with a brilliant 53 - Desmond Haynes hit 26 and Richardson 22.

* Pakistan's pace bowlers also played their part, Waseem Akram, Mudassar Nazar and Zakir Khan claiming two wickets apiece.

* But once Viv Richards was out the West Indians lost their way against Abdul Qadir, who won the man-of- the-match award for his magic effort.

* Pakistan were steered to victory in the face of accurate bowling and A superb fielding by Mohsin Khan, who scored a valuable 43, and Javed Miandad, who hit a well-made 41.



West Indies scored 173 for all-out in 36.2 overs with top scorer by Viv Richards hit 53 off 57-balls including 2-fours & a six.

Desmond Haynes hit 26 off 38-balls including 3-fours, Larry Gomes 23 and Richie Richardson 22.

Pakistan best bowler by Abdul Qadir claimed a 4-wickets for 17-runs in 5.2-overs, Wasim Akram, Mudassar Nazar and Zakir Khan each took 2-wickets.

Pakistan chased 175-4 in 38.3 overs with top scorer by Mohsin Khan scored 43 off 84-balls including three boundaries.

Javed Miandad hit 41 off 53-balls including 3-fours, Saleem Malik scored a unbeaten 26 off 33-balls included three-fours, Imran Khan 22 not out and Mudassar Nazar 15.

West Indies best bowler by Tony Gray took 2-wickets and one for Roger Harper - Michael Holding.
