Bad light saved Sri Lanka from defeat in the final game of the one-day international series against India, When failing light forced the match to be abandoned as a series draw with 1-1.

* Dilip Vengsarkar - who made his third consecutive half-century of the series, had pushed up his side's run-rate after India had started steadily, the Sri Lankans set out to chase 72 in 15 overs and they lost wickets quickly.


India scored 194-6 in 40 overs with top scorer by Dilip Vengsarkar cracked a run-a-ball 55-runs.

Ravi Shastri scored 45 off 69-balls including two boundaries, Sunil Gavaskar hit a unbeaten 39 off 44-balls included 3-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Rumesh Ratnayake takes 2-wickets, Arjuna Ranatunga, Ravi Ratnayeke and Ashantha de Mel each took one-wickets.

Sri Lanka scored 32-4 in 9.2 overs with top scorer by Duleep Mendis hit a unbeaten 14 off 22-balls including a boundary, Roy Dias 12 and Aravinda de Silva 2.

India best bowler by Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev both took 2-wickets.

Dilip Vengsarkar named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored a run-a-ball 55-runs including 5-fours.

Dilip Vengsarkar earned player of the series for contributing 194 runs including three fifties in the three-match ODI series.
