PAKISTAN salvaged some pride with a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the fourth match of the Champions Trophy tournament in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Both teams had lost their opening matches in this round-robin competition which carries total prize money of £60,000.

Imran's decision to put Sri Lanka in to bat looked correct when Mahanama was lbw in the second over.

However a steadfast 60 by all-rounder Gurusinghe and a late fourish in the final three overs enabled Sir Lanka to recover to 164 in their 45 overs.

Pakistan made heavy weather of reaching this modest toal on a perfect batting wicket but, once again, poor supporting bowling proved the undoing of the exuberant but inexperienced Sri Lankans.
