  • David Boon's 122 was the sixth highest score for Australia in One-day international and the highest-score by an Australian batsman against Sri Lanka in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of unbeaten 118 held by Allan Border at same venue in 1985.

* DAVID BOON feels the heat as he seals victory, He made himself physically sick with the exertion of hitting his career-best One-day international score to set up Australia's 81-run World Series Cup win over Sri Lanka in Adelaide. 

* The stocky opener David Boon had to overcome oppressive heat as he struck 122. He pushed the game out of Sri Lanka's reach with two match-winning partnerships before he was second out at 199.

* Australia collect 289 for six, leaving Sri Lanka chasing 5.8 runs per over. They managed only 208 for eight in the alloted 50-overs, despite the efforts of Roshan Mahanama, Asanga Gurusinha and Aravinda de Silva and Australia are top of the table on run rate from New Zealand.

* David Boon won the player of the match award for his second one-day international century, beating his 111 against India in Jaipur in 1986.

* With temperatures near the century mark David Boon, becoming dehydrated, was ill after running four soon after reaching his two-and-a-half-hour 100.

* David Boon and Geoff Marsh's opening stand put on 115 in 100 minutes before Marsh was run out for 37 in the 24th over. Dean Jones helped added a quickfire 84 in 49 minutes from 82-balls before Boon made his exit.



Australia scored 289-6 in 50 overs with top scorer by David Boon struck 122 off 130-balls - which was his 2nd ODI hundred and his first century against Sri Lanka in ODIs - including 15-fours.

Dean Jones scored 69 off 68-balls including 2-fours & a six and Geoff Marsh cracked a 37 off 63-balls included 3-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Graeme Labrooy, Ravi Ratnayeke and Aravinda de Silva each took one-wickets.

Sri Lanka scored 208-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Roshan Mahanama struck 50 off 77-balls including 5-fours.

Aravinda de Silva cracked a 43 off 36-balls including 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 119.44, Asanka Gurusinha scored 43 off 79-balls included 4-fours and Arjuna Ranatunga 23.

Australia best bowler by Tony Dodemaide picked up 3-wickets for 27-runs in 10-overs including a maiden with economy rate of 2.70, Craig McDermott took 2-wickets and one for Mike Whitney.
