Opener Navjot Sidhu's superb 76 and Captain Dilip Vengsarkar's unbeaten fifty led to India comfortable six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka and India became the first team to win two Asia Cup titles in a low-scoring game of the final of a Wills Asia Cup.


Sri Lanka scored 176 for all-out in 43.2 overs with top scorer by Duleep Mendis cracked a run-a-ball 36-runs including 3-fours & a six.

Athula Samarasekera struck 26 off 36-balls including 2-fours, Roshan Mahanama scored 23 off consuming 47-balls included a boundary, Brendon Kuruppu 21 and Aravinda de Silva 18.

India best bowler by Kris Srikkanth picked up 3-wickets for 12-runs in 3.2-overs, Mohinder Amarnath, Kapil Dev and Maninder Singh each took one-wickets.

India chased 180-4 in 37.1 overs with top scorer by Navjot Sidhu struck 76 off 87-balls, Dilip Vengsarkar scored a unbeaten 50 off 81-balls without a boundary and Kris Srikkanth scored 23 off 28-balls contained three-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Kapila Wijegunawardene took 2-wickets and one for Ranjith Madurasinghe.

Navjot Sidhu named Player of the match for his match-winning superb 76 off 87-balls including 4-fours and 3-sixes.

Navjot Sidhu earned player of the tournament for contributing 179 runs.
