Openers Ramiz Raza's record-breaking 8th century and Saeed Anwar's brilliant century before Wasim Akram's four-wickets and Aaqib Javed's two wickets helped to Pakistan thumping 114-run victory over Sri Lanka and clinch the title in a rain-affected, one-sided final clash of a Will Trophy.

  • This is the sixth instance of Pakistan's two batsmen were scores of centuries or more runs in their innings in One-day international and It is their third such instance against Sri Lanka in ODIs. The only other two such instance came against Sri Lanka at Adelaide in the 1989-90 Benson & Hedges World Series Cup and at Rawalpindi in the last year.
  • Ramiz Raja became the second Pakistan batsman to scored three centuries against Sri Lanka in ODIs after Saleem Malik's 3-tons.
  • Saeed Anwar became the fifth batsman to scored two centuries in ODIs.

  • This is the third instance of both openers had scored centuries in the same innings in one-day international, It is the second such instance of Pakistan's both openers (Saeed Anwar's 110 and Ramiz Raja's 109) scores of 100 or more runs in the same innings in ODI and also this is the Pakistan's second such instance against Sri Lanka in ODIs, Their previous such instance came by Saeed Anwar's 126 and Ramiz Raja's 107* at Adelaide in the 1989-90 Benson & Hedges World Series.

Pakistan scored massive total of 281-3 in the allotted 41 overs - match reduced from 50 to 41-overs per a side - with top scorer by Saeed Anwar struck 110 off 105-balls - which was his 3rd ODI hundred and his second century against Sri Lanka in ODIs.

Ramiz Raja cracked a unbeaten 109 off 115-balls - which was his 8th ODI hundred and his third century against Sri Lanka in ODIs - including 8-fours.

Wasim Akram blasted a 22 off 11-balls including 4-fours with strike rate of 200 and Inzamam-ul-Haq hit 20 off 11-balls contained 3-fours with strike rate of 181.81.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Asanka Gurusinha took 2-wickets and one for Champaka Ramanayake.

Sri Lanka scored 167-7 in the allotted 41 overs with top scorer by Chandika Hathurusinghe cracked a 42 off 72-balls including 4-fours.

Asanka Gurusinha struck 36 off 59-balls including 2-fours, Arjuna Ranatunga cracked a 25 off 34-balls included 3-fours and Ruwan Kalpage hit a unbeaten 19 off 25-balls contained three-fours.

Pakistan best bowler by Wasim Akram claimed a 4-wickets for 24-runs in 10-overs including three maidens with economy rate of 2.40 and Aaqib Javed took 2-wickets.

Saeed Anwar named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored 110 off facing 105-balls including 9-fours & a six.

Wasim Akram earned player of the tournament for claiming 8 wicket with average of 10.25.
