A magnificent maiden ODI century by opener Sachin Tendulkar and his schoolmate Vinod Kambli's 43* before Manoj Prabhakar and Rajesh Chauhan's combined 5-wickets helped to India sealed a 31-run victory over Australia in the third match of a Singer World Series.

  • India's 31-run win was their smallest victory by terms of runs against Australia in ODIs, previous narrowest win by 52-runs at Ahmedabad in 1986.
  • Sachin Tendulkar became the 15th Indian batsman to score a hundred in one-day internationals.
  • Sachin Tendulkar became the fourth Indian batsman to score a century against Australia in ODIs after Ravi Shastri, Kris Srikkanth and Raman Lamba.

Michael Bevan cracked a 26 off 40-balls without a boundary, Steve Waugh scored 22 off 42-balls without a four and Ian Healy 15.

India best bowler by Manoj Prabhakar picked up 3-wickets for 34-runs in 8-overs, Rajesh Chauhan captured two-wickets, Anil Kumble, Venkatapathy Raju and Kapil Dev each took one-wickets.

Sachin Tendulkar named Player of the match for his magnificent batting performance to scored a career-best 110-runs knocked off facing 130-balls including 8-fours & 2-sixes.
