Mark Waugh struck 60 off 75-balls including 4-fours & 2-sixes, Dean Jones hit 52 off 56-balls contained 2-sixes & 2-fours.

Steve Waugh cracked a unbeaten 23 off 26-balls including a boundary, Damien Martyn struck 22 off 16-balls included a six and Allan Border hit a unbeaten 14 off 8-balls contained a six with strike rate of 175.

New Zealand best bowler by Gavin Larsen, Willie Watson both captured one-wickets and Debutant Jeff Wilson - who took one-wicket on his debut ODI match.

New Zealand bundled out for 129 in 42.2 overs with top scorer by Andrew Jones scored 24 off 60-balls including a six.

Gavin Larsen cracked a 22 off 47-balls including one-six & a four, Willie Watson hit 21 off 28-balls included 3-fours & a six.

Ken Rutherford struck 21 off 33-balls including 3-fours and Danny Morrison hit a unbeaten 20 off 40-balls contained one-six & a four.

Australia best bowler by Tony Dodemaide claimed a 4-wickets, Tim May picked up 3-wickets, Paul Reiffel captured 2-wickets for 17-runs in 9-overs including two maidens with economy rate of 1.88 and Merv Hughes took one-wicket.

Tony Dodemaide named Player of the match for his pace bowling attack to claimed a 4-wickets for 20-runs in 10-overs including four maidens with economy rate of 2.

Australia exacted a crushing revenge for
their test defeat by New Zealand with a 129-run
victory in a one-day international.

Australia bludgeoned their way to 258 for four in their allotted 50 overs and then demolished a slack-looking New Zealand batting line-up for just 129. Two new players flown over from Australia for the five-match series of one dayers fired immediately, with veteran batsman Dean Jones scoring 52 and medium pacer Tony Dodemaide snapping up four for 20.

Pace bowler Craig McDermott Dermott and batsman Justin Langer returned to Australia after the tied three-match test series. New Zealand won the final test on Tuesday by
five wickets.

Summer had disappeared in this deep south New Zealand city when play began yesterday
morning.

Spectators shivered under rugs and sipped from thermos flasks in temperatures around 11 Celsius (52 Fahrenheit). However Australia's
openers soon warmed up the New Zealand fielders.

Mark Taylor hit 78 and Mark Waugh slashed a stylish 60 in adding 95 for the first wicket, Taylor and Dean Jones, in his first match of the tour, put on a further 104 for the second wicket. Waugh's 60 from 75 balls included the first two sixes out of nine in the innings.

He was out chipping seamer Willie Watson to Martin Crowe at mid-on in the 23rd over.

Lefthander Taylor played an impressive innings for his side, getting 78 in 154 balls. He hit five fours and three sixes and with Jones put Australia firmly in charge.

Captain Allan Border finished off the Australian innings with a powerful six to set New Zealand a difficult target.
