  • Anil Kumble became the second Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul against New Zealand in One-day internationals after Kris Srikkanth's 2 five-fors.
  • Anil Kumble became the third Indian bowler to take two five-wicket hauls in ODIs after Kris Srikkanth and Javagal Srinath.
  • Anil Kumble's 5 for 33 was his second best bowling performance for India in One-day international after his record 6 for 12 against West Indies at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in the 1993 Hero Cup final and the third best-bowling-figures by an Indian bowler against New Zealand in ODIs.
  • This is the sixth instance of India's top three batsmen were scores of fifty or more runs in their innings in One-day international and It is their first such instance against New Zealand in ODIs.

India scored 255-5 in 50 overs with top scorer by Navjot Sidhu cracked a unbeaten 71 off 77-balls including 3-fours & a six.

Sachin Tendulkar struck 63 off 75-balls including 9-fours, Ajay Jadeja cracked a 56 off 90-balls included 2-fours & a six.

Vinod Kambli scored 23 off 33-balls without a boundary and Mohammad Azharuddin hit 24 off 20-balls contained 3-fours.

New Zealand best bowler by Danny Morrison captured two-wickets, Gavin Larsen, Chris Pringle and Dion Nash each took one-wickets.

New Zealand scored 243-9 in the allotted 50 overs with top scorer by Shane Thomson struck 60 off 61-balls including 4-fours & a six.

Adam Parore cracked a 47 off 61-balls including a boundary, Chris Harris hit 44 off 52-balls included 7-fours.

Ken Rutherford cracked a 35 off 41-balls including 2-fours and Blair Hartland scored 21 off 45-balls included two boundaries.

India best bowler by Anil Kumble 5-33 and Javagal Srinath picked up 3-wickets for 31-runs in 10-overs including three maidens with economy rate of 3.10.

Anil Kumble named Player of the match for his excellent spin bowling performance to claimed a 5-wicket haul for 33-runs in 10-overs with economy rate of 3.30.
