South African middle-order pair Hansie Cronje and Jonty Rhodes tormented Australia for the second time in as many days with a half-century partnership in the second one-day international.

Cronje and Rhodes added 106 in less than an hour at Wanderers Stadium on Saturday and continued from where they left off at Centurion Park.

After the loss of the Kirsten brothers, the third-wicket pair had added 64 in 50 minutes to take South Africa to a solid 2-122 at the 30-over mark.
Cronje had reached 38 while Rhodes was on 36 from 50 deliveries.

Cronje scored his maiden one-day century at Wanderers but was not as fluent 24 hours later, finding it difficult to release the pressure built up by Glenn McGrath and Steve Waugh.

Rhodes ran superbly between the wickets and their 50-stand came up in 43 minutes.

The Australians persevered with an unchanged line-up in a bid to reverse Saturday's narrow five-run loss.

South African captain Kepler Wessels again won the toss and the home side made a solid start in the first hour thanks to the opening partnership of the Kirsten brothers.

The pair added 45 in 13 overs before Gary Kirsten was well caught by Steve Waugh in the gully off McGrath, trying to glide a ball to third man.

Elder brother Peter spent an hour over 22 before he chopped Mark. Waugh back on to his off stump.

Star leg-spinner Shane Warne had so far bowled two overs for five runs, coming on at the 28-over mark when the score was 2-108.
