Roshan Mahanama cracked a 49 off 95-balls - who fell one-run short of his half-century - including 3-fours, Arjuna Ranatunga struck 29 off 32-balls included 2-fours & a six and Asanka Gurusinha hit a unbeaten 22 off 24-balls contained 3-fours.

South Africa best bowler by Debutant Pat Symcox - who picked up 2-wickets for 28-runs in 9-overs on his debut ODI match - including a maiden and Allan Donald took one-wicket.

South Africa scored 52 for 4 at when rain stopped the play - due to rain revised target of 107 from 25-overs- with top scorer by Hansie Cronje cracked a 22 off 33-balls including 3-fours, Jonty Rhodes 8 for not out and Andrew Hudson 6.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Muttiah Muralitharan captured 2-wickets for 6-runs in 3-overs and Aravinda de Silva took two-wickets.
