India moved into the driver's seat in the five-match Sahara Cup by notching its second consecutive victory beating Pakistan by seven wickets. On Saturday India won by 20 runs.
But the victory was thrust out of the spotlight by an off-field incident involving Pakistan's star batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq, who waded into the stands at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club in an attempt to get at a spectator.
Ul-Haq, often called the Sleeping Giant by media, has been banned for two matches. He has been charged under the ICC Code of conduct with "bringing the game into disrepute."
The incident occurred in the 16th over of India's innings when the score stood at 45 for one wicket.
Ul-Haq ran across the field, jumped the fence and climbed the stairs of a grandstand to confront a spectator.
Police and security officers raced to the scene but not before a cricket bat was produced and Inzamam-ul-Haq was surrounded by excited fans who ran across the field from the grandstand.
