The game is rescheduled for 9:30 AM tomorrow if the field is in good playing condition. Morning dew conditions have delayed the start of each match thus far to 10:am.
The announcement was made at 4:30 p.m, four hours after the first shower. The rain let up twice during the afternoon, but started again as crews tried to clear water from the field.
The postponement was a bitter blow to Pakistan batsmen as a fine innings went to waste.
Down 2-0 in the series and unable to mount any attack in either of the first two matches, Pakistan scored an impressive 169 for 3 in just under 32 overs before the storm hit.
Pakistan got 47 from opening Shahid Afridi and 74 not out from Saeed Anwar. Pakistan scored 71 before losing its first wicket and 158 before its second. Pakistan captain Rameez Raja scored 34 but had to leave the game after a ball struck his index finger.
India's starting bowlers, Abey Kuruvilla and Debashish Mohanty, who had India to their two victories by taking early wickets, were unable to handle Pakistan's opening partnership
