Half-centuries from Sanath Jayasuriya, Aravinda de and Arjuna Ranatunga before Bowlers and Spinner Muttiah Muralitharan three-wickets helped to Sri Lanka comfortable 85-run victory over Pakistan and took an unassailable 2-0 lead to clinch title in the second final clash of the best-of-three-finals of a Pepsi Independence Cup.

Sri Lanka scored massive total of 309 for all-out in 49.4 overs with top scorer by Arjuna Ranatunga cracked a 59 off 77-balls including 3-fours & a six.

Aravinda de Silva blasted a 57 off 49-balls, Sanath Jayasuriya hammered a 55 off 40-balls included 7-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 137.50.

Hashan Tillakaratne cracked a 38 off 48-balls including 2-fours & a six, Marvan Atapattu struck 29 off 30-balls included 5-fours and Roshan Mahanama scored a run-a-ball 27-runs contained 3-fours and Kuma Kumar scored 16 off 12-balls contained 2-fours.

Pakistan best bowler by Saqlain Mushtaq claimed a 4-wickets for 53-runs in 9.4-overs, Arshad Khan, Saleem Malik both took 2-wickets and one for Shahid Afridi.

Pakistan bowled out for 224 in 43.1 overs with top scorer by Ramiz Raja cracked a 76 off 101-balls including 8-fours.

Ijaz Ahmed struck 55 off 60-balls including 6-fours & a six, Mohammad Wasim scored 20 off 35-balls without a boundary.

Mohammad Hussain cracked a unbeaten 18 off 17-balls including a boundary and Shahid Afridi hit 17 off 14-balls contained one-six & a four.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Muttiah Muralitharan picked up 3-wickets for 40-runs in 10-overs, Kumar Dharmasena, Aravinda de Silva, Chaminda Vaas, Sajeewa de Silva and Sanath Jayasuriya each took one-wickets.

Aravinda de Silva named Player of the match for his quick-fire batting performance to smashed a 57 off 49-balls including 8-fours with strike rate of 116.32.

Sanath Jayasuriya earned player of the tournament for contributing 306 runs with average of 76.50.
