New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham smashed a five-sixes in an over off Thisara Perera in the first ODI against Sri Lanka at Mount Maunganui.

* 34-runs : Number of runs that were scored in the 49th over from Thisara Perera, which was the most productive over for New Zealand in One-day international cricket history, surpassing the their previous record of 31-runs against Canada at Mumbai in the 2011 World Cup and the joint third most expensive-over in ODIs.

* James Neesham scored 33-runs (6, 6, 6, 6, 2, 6, 1) - the most runs scored by an New Zealand batsman in an over in One-day international cricket history, surpassing the previous record of 28-runs jointly held by (James Franklin off Canadian Rizwan Cheema and Harvir Baidwan at Mumbai in the 2011 World Cup) and (Ross Taylor off Pakistani Abdul Razzaq at Kandy in the 2011 World Cup and the third most runs scored by a batsman in an single over in ODIs after Herschelle Gibbs (36) and Thisara Perera (34).

* James Neesham became the first New Zealand batsman to hit five sixes in an over in One-day international cricket history.

James Neesham - who hammered a unbeaten 47-runs off facing 13-balls including 6-sixes with strike rate of 361.53 helped to taking New Zealand past 350 plus.
