Mitchell Starc holds nerve as Australia thrilling 5-run victory over Sri Lanka, despite a last-man standing knock from Angelo Mathews' 64 in a nail-biter game of the third match of a CB Tri-series.

  • Australia's 5-run win was their smallest victory by terms of runs against Sri Lanka in One-day internationals, previous narrowest win by 9-runs at Sydney in 1996.
  • Angelo Mathews' 64 was the joint seventh highest score by an Sri Lankan No.7 batsman in One-day international, jointly with Upul Chandana and the highest-score by an Sri Lankan No.7 batsman against Australia in One-day international, surpassing the previous record of 55 held by Roshan Mahanama at Adelaide in 1999
  • 46 : Angelo Mathews and Dhammika Prasad set up the record tenth-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Australia in One-day international, previously held by the 31-run stand between Arjuna Ranatunga and Ravindra Pushpakumara at Melbourne in 1996 and Sri Lanka's second highest tenth-wicket stand in ODIs.

Daniel Christian scored 33 off 44-balls including 4-fours & a six, David Hussey 27, Clint McKay 25 and Michael Hussey 23.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Angelo Mathews, Nuwan Kulasekara, Sachithra Senanayake, Lasith Malinga and Dhammika Prasad each took 2-wickets.

Sri Lanka scored 226 for all-out in 49.5 overs with top scorer by Angelo Mathews struck 64 off 76-balls including four-fours and a six, Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 40, Dinesh Chandimal 37 and Kumar Sangakkara 22.

Australia best bowler by Xavier Doherty, Daniel Christian, Mitchell Starc each took 2-wickets and one for Michael Clarke, Ryan Harris and Clint McKay.

Michael Clarke named Player of the match for his masterclass 57-runs knocked off facing 88-balls including four boundaries and taking a wicket and a catch.
