  • Sri Lanka became the second team after Pakistan to reach two finals in the World Twenty20. They also improved their record against Pakistan to 4-6 and 2-2 in World Twenty20 matches.
  • Sri Lanka have now won eight and lost seven of their 15 home Twenty20 internationals including one Super Over win over New Zealand. They have however, won just one game at home chasing.
  • The target of 140 is the second-lowest defended by Sri Lanka in Twenty20 internationals. The lowest target (133) defended was also against Pakistan in Hambantota earlier in 2012.
  • Kamran Akmal became the first wicketkeeper to aggregate 50 dismissals in Twenty20 internationals. Kumar Sangakkara is a distant second with 35 dismissals. Akmal also has the highest number of stumpings (30).
  • The number of dot-balls in the second innings (59) is the second-highest for Pakistan in World Twenty20 matches. The highest is 63 dot-balls in the Super Eights game against South Africa in this tournament.
  • 6 : Shahid Afridi equalled a joint most ducks in Twenty20 internationals jointly JP Duminy and Luke Wright. Remarkably all his ducks have come off the first ball he has faced.

Sri Lanka scored 139-4 in 20 overs with top scorer by Mahela Jayawardene 42, Tillakaratne Dilshan struck 35 off 53-balls including 3-fours, Kumar Sangakkara 18 and Jeevan Mendis 15.

Pakistan best bowler by Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Gul, Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal each took one-wickets.

Pakistan scored 123-7 in 20 overs with top scorer by Mohammad Hafeez struck 42 off 40-balls including 4-fours & a six, Umar Akmal 29 not out and Imran Nazir 20.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Rangana Herath picked up 3-wickets, Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis both took two-wickets.

Mahela Jayawardene named player of the match for his brilliant 42-runs knocked off facing 36-balls including 7-fours with strike rate of 116.66.
