Sri Lanka scored 157-8 in the alloted 40 overs with top scorer by Arjuna Ranatunga cracked a unbeaten 50 off 60-balls including 4-fours.

Debutant Uvaisul Karnain - who scored 28 off 24-balls on his debut ODI match and Somachandra De Silva 18 not out.

New Zealand best bowler by Ewen Chatfield takes 2-wickets, Lance Cairns, Martin Crowe, Richard Hadlee and Derek Stirling each took one-wickets.

New Zealand scored 116 for all-out in 34 overs with top scorer by Derek Stirling 13 not out, Richard Hadlee 13, Bruce Edgar and Geoff Howarth each scored 12-runs.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Uvaisul Karnain - who claimed a five-wicket haul on his debut ODI match, Arjuna Ranatunga picked up 3-wickets for 23-runs in 8-overs including a maiden, Vinothen John and Somachandra De Silva both took one-wickets.
