Charith Asalanka's 74-ball 97, Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Janith Liyanage's fifties before Wanindu Hasaranga's four-for gives Sri Lanka's record 155-run victory over Afghanistan, despite a Rahmat Shah - Ibrahim Zadran's fifties and took an unbeatable 2-0 lead to seal the series in a one-sided game of the second ODI.

  • Sri Lanka's 155-run win was their largest victory by terms of runs against Afghanistan in ODIs, previous biggest win by 132-runs at Hambantota in the last year.
  • Sri Lanka's 308 was their fourth highest score against Afghanistan in One-day international and also It is their fourth highest total at Pallekelle in ODIs.
  • 103 : Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama set up the second highest third-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan in ODIs, The highest is 120-run stand between Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama at same venue earlier in this series' first ODI.
  • 111 : Charith Asalanka and Janith Liyanage set up the second highest fifth-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan in ODIs, The highest is 126-run stand between Mahela Jayawardene and Angelo Mathews at Dunedin in the 2015 World Cup.
  • This is the seventh instance of Sri Lanka's four batsmen were scores of fifty or more runs in their innings in One-day international and it is their first such  instance against Afghanistan in ODIs.
  • India lost their last eight wickets for just 10-runs - which was their worst eight-wicket collapse in One-day international. They went from 143 for 2 to 153 for all out. Their previous worst such collapse was eight for 19-runs against Scotland at Abu Dhabi in 2015.

Sri Lanka scored 308-6 in 50 overs with top scorer by Charith Asalanka hammered a unbeaten 97 off 74-balls, Kusal Mendis cracked a 61 off 65-balls including 6-fours & a six, Sadeera Samarawickrama hit 52 off 61-balls included 3-fours, Janith Liyanage struck 50 off 48-balls contained 2-sixes & 2-fours and Pathun Nissanka 18.

Afghanistan best bowler by Azmatullah Omarzai picked up 3-wickets for 56-runs in 10-overs, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Qais Ahmad each took one-wickets.

Afghanistan were 128 for 2 bundled out for 153 in 33.5 overs with top scorer by Rahmat Shah struck 63 off 69-balls including 7-fours.

Ibrahim Zadran scored 54 off 76-balls including 6-fours, Hashmatullah Shahidi 9 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz 8.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Wanindu Hasaranga claimed a 4-wickets for 27-runs in 6.5-overs, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka both took 2-wickets and one for Pramod Madushan.

Charith Asalanka named Player of the match for his scintillating unbeaten 97 off 72-balls including 9-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 131.08.
