Kris Srikkanth's brilliant 82, Sanjay Manjrekar's half-century and Sachin Tendulkar's 48 before Kapil Dev's four-wickets helped to India narrow 10-run victory over West Indies, despite a Desmond Haynes' superb 89 and India move to top of the points table in the fifth match of a Benson and Hedges World Series Cup.


* Desmond Haynes became the first batsman to register 7000 runs in one-day internationals when he blasted leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani over square leg for six to move from 32 to 38, Starting the day with 6964 runs, he now has 7053 runs from 188 matches, including 16 hundreds and 42 half centuries. Richards is the only other batsman (6721 runs from 187 games) with more than 6000 one-day runs.



India scored 262-4 in 50 overs with top scorer by Kris Srikkanth struck 82 off 84-balls including 10-fours & a six, Sanjay Manjrekar cracked a 55 off 98-balls including a boundary.

Sachin Tendulkar struck 48 off 57-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - including 2-fours, Mohammad Azharuddin scored a unbeaten 31 off 28-balls without a boundary and Kapil Dev hit a unbeaten 21 off  19-balls included a four.

West Indies best bowler by Keith Arthurton took 2-wickets and one for Curtly Ambrose - Carl Hooper.

West Indies bowled out for 252 in 50 overs with top scorer by Desmond Haynes hit 89 off 116-balls including 6-fours & a six.

Philo Wallace cracked a 52 off 96-balls including 4-fours & a six, Brian Lara scored a run-a-ball 29-runs included a boundary and Malcolm Marshall hit 17 off 13-balls contained 2-fours.

India best bowler by Kapil Dev claimed a 4-wickets for 54-runs in 10-overs including a maiden, Javagal Srinath captured 2-wickets, Manoj Prabhakar, Ravi Shastri and Narendra Hirwani each took one-wickets.

Kris Srikkanth named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored a 82 off facing 84-balls including 10-fours and a six.
