Eddo Brandes' career-best 4 for 21, A economical bowling figures by John Traicos and Ali Shah helped to Zimbabwe registered their historic first ODI win against England by shocking a 9-runs in a low-scoring thriller of the 35th match of a Benson and Hedges World Cup.

Zimbabwe bowled out for 134 in 46.1 overs with top scorer by Dave Houghton cracked a 29 off 74-balls including two boundaries.

Iain Butchart struck 24 off 36-balls including 2-fours and Eddo Brandes scored 14 off 24-balls included a boundary.

England best bowler by Ian Botham picked up 3-wickets for 23-runs in 10-overs including two maidens with economy rate of 2.30, Richard Illingworth captured three-wickets for 33-runs in 9.1-overs with economy rate of 3.60.

Phil Tufnell captured two-wickets for 36-runs in 10-overs including two maidens with economy rate of 3.60, Phil DeFreitas took 1-wicket for 14-runs in 8-overs included a maiden and Gladstone Small picked up 1-wicket for 20-runs in 9-overs contained a maiden with economy rate 2.22.

England bundled out for 125 in 49.1 overs with top scorer by Alec Stewart scored 29 off consuming 96-balls including three boundaries.

Neil Fairbrother scored 20 off consumed 77-balls without a boundary, Ian Botham hit 18 off 34-balls included 4-fours and Allan Lamb struck 17 off 26-balls contained 2-fours.

Zimbabwe best bowler by Eddo Brandes claimed a 4-wickets, John Traicos conceded just 16-runs in 10-overs including four maidens with economy rate of 1.60.

Ali Shah captured 2-wickets for 17-runs in 10-overs including 3-maidens with economy rate of 1.70, Iain Butchart took 2-wickets and one for Malcolm Jarvis.

Eddo Brandes named Player of the match for his pace bowling attack to claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 21-runs in 10-overs including four maidens with economy rate of 2.10.

Zimbabwe fast bowler Eddo Brandes' chickens came home to roost after a match-winning haul of 4-21 in the World Cup match against England at Lavington Sports Ground in Albury.

Despite the loss, England, the Cup favourite, qualified in second place for Sunday's semi-final against South Africa with 11 points, one point behind New Zealand. Zimbabwe's win earned it its first points in the World Cup.

The 29-year-old poultry farmer from Harare earned his 15 minutes of fame and a place in Zimbabwean sporting history as the tiny African nation recorded only its second victory against a Test-playing country.

England could only manage 125 in reply to Zimbabwe's 134 on a wicket offering assistance throughout the day to all bowlers.

Brandes claimed Graham Gooch for nought, Allan Lamb for 17, Robin Smith for two and the most treasured wicket of his old schoolmate Graeme Hick for nought, as England crashed to 5-43.
