A sparkling maiden century by Brian Lara and Phil Simmons' half-century before Ian Bishop's four-wickets and Carl Hooper's three-wickets helped to West Indies massive 124-run victory over Pakistan, despite a Javed Miandad's half-century in a one-sided game of the sixth match of a Total International Series.

  • Pakistan's 124-run win was their eighth largest victory by terms of runs in One-day international and It is their second biggest win against Pakistan in ODIs after their 133-run win at Sydney in the 1992-93 Benson and Hedges World Series Cup.
  • Brian Lara became the fifth West Indies batsman to score a century against Pakistan in One-day internationals.
  • Brian Lara became the 12th West Indies batsman to score a hundred in ODIs.
  • Javed Miandad became the second player to reach 7000 ODI runs after Desmond Haynes' 7904 runs.

West Indies scored 268-5 in 50 overs with top scorer by Brian Lara blasted a career-best 128 off 125-balls - which was his 1st ODI hundred.

Phil Simmons struck 70 off 103-balls including 7-fours & a six and Carl Hooper hit a unbeaten 20 off 23-balls included a boundary.

Pakistan best bowler by Waqar Younis picked up 3-wickets and one for Aamer Sohail - Wasim Akram.

Pakistan bundled out for 144 in 46.5 overs with top scorer by Javed Miandad cracked a 67 off 94-balls including 7-fours.

Ramiz Raja struck 34 off 76-balls including a boundary and Aamer Sohail scored 14 off consuming 41-balls contained a four.

West Indies best bowler by Ian Bishop claimed a 4-wickets for 32-runs in 10-overs including a maiden with economy rate of 3.20, Carl Hooper picked up 3-wickets for 27-runs in 9.5-overs included a maiden with economy-rate of 2.74, Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh both took one-wickets.

Brian Lara named Player of the match for his sparkling batting performance to smashed a career-best 128-runs knocked off facing 125-balls including 20-fours with strike rate of 102.40.

A scorching 128 runs by Brian Lara off 126 deliveries helped West Indies to a crushing 124-run win over Pakistan in their one-day cricket match in Durban.

The left-handed opener smashed 80 runs from boundaries as the West Indies hit 5-268 off 50 overs.

For a time, after Lara and Phil Simmons (70) bludgeoned their team's second 50 off only 38 balls, it seemed the Caribbean side would pass the 300 mark.

In reply, Pakistan wobbled and then crashed to 144 all out off 46.5 overs.

In the triangular series, Pakistan has beaten South Africa twice, South Africa has beaten the West Indies twice and the West Indies has beaten Pakistan twice.

Javed Miandad was the only batsman to offer any serious resistance to the West Indies pace attack and even he gave up and dawdled his way to 67 after it became clear he was going to run out of partners and overs.

After losing veteran opener Desmond Haynes, leg-before for six to Pakistan captain Wasim Akram in the seventh over with the score on 12, Lara and Simmons combined in a 197 run partnership that saw their team to the highest total of the series.

Simmons, who was dropped on 10 by Wasim off the bowling of Wagar Younis, was finally caught behind after a knock that included seven fours and a six.

Waqar finally dismissed Lara, caught at extra cover by Shoaib Mohammad, and Richardson in the same over. The West Indies run rate then tapered off.
